| The Providence Diabetes Center is recognized by both the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educators for providing excellent diabetes self-management education. Diabetes self-management education (DSME) provides comprehensive education regarding disease process, nutritional management, blood glucose monitoring, medication, physical activity, acute and chronic complications, sick day management, risk reduction and goal setting. Individual education appointments are also available for medication instruction and personalized meal planning. Providence Diabetes Center DSME classes are offered at several locations throughout the greater Dayton region including Dayton, Huber Heights, Beavercreek, and Germantown. The center utilizes a multi-disciplinary team including an adult nurse practitioner CDE, a registered dietitian, a registered nurse CDE, and an insurance verification specialist. Becky Roberts, ANP-BC, CDE received her BSN at Wright State University and her MSN at Ball State University. Becky provides individual and group education as well as collaborates with primary care physicians for diabetes management if requested. Becky has extensive experience with insulin pump utilization as well as the initiation of other injectable diabetes medications. Jennifer Burns RD/LD holds a B.A. in Education from Capital University as well as a B.S. in Allied Health Professions/Medical Dietetics through The Ohio State University. Jennifer is working with patients both individually as well as in group classes to help them better understand the nutritional component of diabetes. Through a variety of hands-on strategies and informational teaching sessions, patients are provided with tools to develop lifelong skills for managing their diabetes. Victoria Kroger is a Registered Nurse and Certified Diabetes Educator. Victoria obtained her BSN from Wright State University and has been working in the nursing field for 22 years. Utilizing adult learning techniques, Victoria provides both individual and group self-management education to people living with diabetes. Tobi Wells received her B.S. in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. Tobi has been working in the Customer Service field for several years and is currently managing the scheduling and billing department for the Providence Diabetes Center. Upon scheduling diabetes education, verification of insurance coverage on all services performed at the center will be confirmed and the information relayed to the patient. |
