Dr. Gary Hayes, Dr. Michael Shaffer and professional staff at Lebanon Medical Group offer complete primary care for the whole family. Recognizing that true patient care is both a science and an art, our providers partner with each patient to encourage long-term health and wellness. At Lebanon Medical Group, each patient is provided time and attention during each visit, with an emphasis on continuity of care for each family member.
An experienced family physician, Gary Hayes, MD has been in practice in Lebanon for over 44 years. Board Certified in Family Practice, Dr. Hayes strives to go beyond symptom management to provide special care and treatment that promotes complete well-being.
A longtime resident of the area, Dr. Hayes devotes his time to his practice and family, including four grandchildren. Dr. Hayes received his degree from the Kentucky University College of Medicine, and performed his internship at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, GA. He maintains hospital affiliations with Kettering Medical Center, Sycamore Hospital and Bethesda Hosptals.
Michael Shaffer, DO, is dedicated to total patient health, emphasizing on-going wellness for every member of your family. With extensive experience in primary care, and in teaching other physicians the principles of family practice, Dr. Shaffer is uniquely qualified to provide a full spectrum of care for patients of all ages.
Dr. Shaffer is board certified in Family Practice, with an added qualification certificate in Primary Care Sports Medicine. In addition to family health care, he focuses on acute injuries, injury prevention, conditions related to the female athlete, and general preventative medicine. As a Doctor of Osteopathy, Dr. Shaffer also actively practices osteopathic manipulative medicine.
A graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Shaffer performed his residency in Family Medicine at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX. Since his residency, he has served with distinction on the faculty of some of the most respected medical schools and teaching hospitals in the country.
In developing his experience in Sports Medicine, Dr. Shaffer has served as NCAA Division I Team Physician for the Pirates of East Carolina University, the Red Raiders of Texas Tech University and most recently with the University of Cincinnati Bearcats. Most recently, Dr. Shaffer was on staff at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in the Division of Sports Medicine and served as a Faculty Physician and the Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship program.Outside of his practice of medicine, Dr. Shaffer has a passion for family time, barbecuing and cooking, as well as riding his motorcycle and working with his hands.
