Dr. Robert Joseph’s clinical practice includes all elements of foot and ankle care ranging from routine diabetic foot care and health education to wound care, sports medicine and elective and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. Dr. Joseph’s combination of surgical and research expertise provides patients with some of the most current approaches to foot and ankle care, including participation with clinical trials. Dr. Joseph graduated from the Scholl College of Podiatry at the Finch University of Health Sciences in Chicago, Illinois. He performed a three-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, and received a Ph.D. in connective tissue biochemistry from Rush University, Chicago, where his research expertise is in cartilage biology and osteoarthritis. Dr. Joseph is an adjunct faculty member of the Biology Department at the University of Dayton, and a Clinical Research Associate of the Tissue Regeneration and Engineering Center at Dayton. Dr. Joseph’s research interests include diabetic limb salvage and reconstruction as well as the development of wound healing adjuncts. Dr. Joseph’s past research has been awarded significant funding and received recognition including the Steven W. Toth Distinguished Service Award of the American Public Health Association. He was also a New Investigator Research Award (NIRA) finalist with the Orthopedic Research Society (ORS) in 2003.
Dr. Joseph is professionally affiliated with the American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association.
